Charlie: neutered male; date of birth – 08/2004
Charlie is an incredible little, black cat. He was found in a large garbage can, with a brick on the lid, by some children playing nearby. The children had heard him crying for a couple days before they realized where he was. Apparently, a mean-spirited human had deliberately put him in the garbage can. Charlie was only about eight weeks old then. He was barely clinging to life, skinny, severely dehydrated, full of hook and round worms, and he had a severe eye infection in both of his little eyes. Maggots had crawled into both of his eyes while he was inside the dirty garbage can. We immediately rushed him to a veterinarian for treatment. He was in such poor condition, that he needed hospitalization for about one month. Unfortunately, even with such care, his eyes could not be saved. When Charlie was strong enough, his eyes were surgically removed. |
